INES 2012 - International Network of Engineering Studies

Conference Archives

October 15, 2012 – October 16, 2012

Taking advantage of that the 4S/EASST meeting 17-21 October 2012 and the SHOT annual meeting 4-7 October 2012 both will take place in Copenhagen; we would like to invite to an INES workshop in Copenhagen the 15th and 16th October 2012.

The general theme of the INES workshop is 'Challenges and Responses in Engineering'. We want to invite contributions that deal with the current, past and future challenges that the engineering profession is facing in different parts of the world, and how engineering institutions and schools have responded to these challenges. We encourage contributions that focus on developments in engineering practice as well as in engineering education. These include the framing of engineering approaches and objects of work, the identity building processes in education as well as in practice, and the ways engineering visions are presented and are part of techno-scientific visions.

We would like to go back to our origins and have a full paper discussion workshop modeled after the successful meeting in Blacksburg, Virginia in September 2006. This focus on end of the pipe line suits well the current status of the network with the recent inclusion of the Journal Engineering Studies in the ISI index, which is nothing more than a testimony that the network is growing through solid steps thanks to a meticulous attention to the scholarly level of the contributions to this and other journals.

The organizers of the workshop will be Andrés Valderrama and Prof. Ulrik Jørgensen from the Technical University of Denmark with the support of and contributions from the researchers of the ‘Project Opportunities and Challenges for Engineering Education in Denmark’ – PROCEED.
